
Ellen Pao, an artist, curator, and researcher based in Hong Kong, is a significant figure in the local art scene. She is also a co-founder of Videotage and the first artistic director of the Microwave International New Media Arts Festival. She graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1985 with a degree in Radiologic Technology and worked in a hospital. At the same time, she became one of the pinoneers in Hong Kong to engage in experimental video art, creating her first Super 8 film, “Glove,” in 1984. Her early works were initially showcased at local small screenings, and since 1987, she has been active on the international stage, participating in numerous significant international art exhibitions and film festivals.
